Barton County Connects will be taking place on Friday, April 25th at the Wyatt Earp Park. This event is to “Connect” resources with people in our community. Access Family Medical Clinics and Economic Security will have mobile units, and many resources will have booths to visit and learn more about their organizations. The event is “Free” and open to the public. In case of rain the event will be held inside at Memorial Hall.

Each of our Clinic locations are open from 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Most locations stay open until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesdays, in order to serve you with a later evening option.

The Barton County Library system is an information center for all of Barton County. It consists of three branches in Golden City, Lamar and Liberal to better serve all areas of the county. The Library provides access to a comprehensive array of information and services for all county residents. The Library’s collection has almost 50,000 physical items for checkout as well as an additional 5 million items from libraries around the state through a membership in the Missouri Evergreen Consortium.

Digital materials including e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazines are also available to patrons and accessed free of charge by using the patron’s library card number. In addition to offering traditional services, the Library offers the following popular resources: STEAM Kits that contain hands on educational activities, hotspots and laptops for those lacking internet service at home, a streaming service (Kanopy) which offers a wide selection of movies and television shows, and free programs for all ages offered throughout the year. Patrons can also access the internet on the Library’s computers or Wi-Fi, and all branches offer copying, scanning, faxing and printing services.

Economic Security Corporation services include educational programs such as Head Start and Early Head Start, which focus on nutrition, health, mental wellness, and school readiness for children. We also offer case management services aimed at increasing education and employment opportunities for individuals, as well as various housing assistance programs like rapid rehousing, rental assistance, and housing vouchers for homeless and at-risk populations. Additionally, we provide emergency funds for utility bill assistance, transportation services through the Community Action Ride System (CARS), and weatherization assistance to reduce energy costs for low-income households.

As a Nutrition and Health Specialist with MU Extension, I offer programs like Stay Strong, Stay Healthy, which focuses on strength and balance training, and Dining with Diabetes, designed to help manage diabetes through nutrition. I also provide a variety of Chronic Disease and Pain Management courses. If I don’t offer a specific program, I can connect you with resources to meet your health needs.

We are both a thrift store and distribute USDA Food for citizens of Barton County, Missouri. Services provided are Commodities, Emergency Food, Senior Box Program, Thrift Shop, Produce distribution on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays and Utility Assistance for individuals every 6 months.

Dream Big Little One provides beds and bedding to children sleeping on the floor or have no bed of their own, serving children ages 3-10. Kinship placement, fire victims, abuse situations and those unable to afford a bed for their children are accepted.

Community Support Services First Steps provide in home therapies, such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech, and Special Instruction to children 3 and under who have a developmental delay, specific newborn conditions, or a medical condition associated with developmental delays. We take a variety of insurances, and everything is individualized for each child’s needs.

Pregnancy & Family Resource Center offers free & confidential services to women and men experiencing planned and unplanned pregnancies. We offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasound services, information about pregnancy options, prenatal classes, parenting classes, fatherhood programs, and more. Katie’s House also has a boutique store stocked baby items to help you with your material resources.
